Who is that Masked Man...?

The builder of the Flea Circuses for sale on this site is Eric of Svensons - a mechanical engineer  with nearly 30 years of "hands-on" experience in many different aspects of engineering and industry.

It was his son Sven that got him into Flea Circuses.  Sven has been fascinated by the circus and fairs since he first began to talk, he always wanted to own a real circus.  Of course he knew this was unlikely but everyone has a dream! But when he was about 9 years old he discovered the "Flea Circus" in an old book.  Here was a circus he could really own and be the ringmaster!  

So he set to making one. After much experimenting he built his first "Humbug" circus in an old suitcase, it was crude but worked well and everyone loved it! A few years later he had the idea of making a very small "humbug" circus in a cigar box, again everyone loved it, he even stopped people in the street to give little shows!

As time went by Sven has got more and more interested in REAL Flea Circuses, he has built some very tiny and beautiful props for them, and spent a long time learning how to harness fleas, but real fleas are hard to find these days so real shows are few and far between.

Eric loves making interesting things; when Sven was younger he must have been the only child around with his own fully working "half-scale" child size Landrover, built by Eric from scratch. He even had (and still has) a child-size suit of Roman armour made in aluminium, complete with shield, spear and sword!

Sven's interest in circuses has slowly brushed off on Eric and now he is just as enthusiastic about Flea Circuses as Sven!
